If you know of any good websites or run one yourself, feel free to recommend it. I cannot promise to look at all of them but if I find your site suitable for my weekly feature then I will do my utmost to accommodate it. In return I might merely ask that you link to my blog. But please (and I mean this in the politest possible terms) do not ask me to advertise your commercial service.
This week’s site is Worlds Without End (link).
I’ve linked to this site before on my tumblr page (I will probably close it unless I can think of a way to get much more use out of it – StumbleUpon has been much more useful) basically as a return favour for linking to some of my book reviews. These links may be automatically generated but still, any link from other websites (so long as it isn’t a spam site), is most graciously appreciated. It seems to have had a revamp since I first discovered it and is now bigger and much more user friendly. Once I’ve done a bit more digging around to see if it will be worth my while, I may register at the site.
It is a science fiction book resource with a database of writers and their works, awards and a comprehensive network of blogs and fansites, podcasts and magazine articles. I think this inclusion of fansites and blogs is highly important and helps give it a feel of ‘by fans, for fans’. My only complaint is that there is no mobile site which means that while writing this blog entry on WordPress for BlackBerry means that reading the site is difficult. That is no major problem though, I don’t do a huge amount of smartphone surfing but it is nice to have the option and mobile sites always come in useful.
