A fairytale discovery

Thought you knew all of the Germanic fairytales off by heart? Think again! According to this article in The Guardian, a jaw-dropping 500 new fairytales have been discovered in an archive in Germany. The life work of a local historian, the collection has only just come to light.

Fascinating stuff. It is unfortunate that Germanic mythology has been relegated in modern society to mere morality tales for children because the folklore of central Europe is as rich and as diverse as Greek, Roman and Egyptian ever was.
