Useful Website: Blablameter

Editing might be the bane of any writers life and it tests the patience of even the most veteran amongst us. Yet, it is a necessary evil to both develop our style and to create the most effective and efficient writing. You’ll probably need some help in that sometimes. An extra eye, an avid reader willing to read through and pick out poor word use and typos.

But what about waffle? A gret idea for those of you editing your text or wanting a speedy response, blablameter will tell you how much “bullshit” is in your written text. It is limited to 5000 characters so this will work best for flash fiction where tight editing is vital.

I used it on the first few paragraphs of my new edit of A New Age Exodus and got this result:

Your text: 1333 characters, 244 words
Bullshit Index :0.07
Your text shows no or marginal indications of ‘bullshit’-English.

I guess I’m doing something right then!

  3. Definitely wonder how it calculates its percentages, I put in two and came out with .15 and .11. Not too shabby.
