I’m feeling very excited. Most of this year, I have been putting aside some money to buy an XBox One. I turned 40 in March and asked for Amazon vouchers to contribute. Well, after five months I finally have all the money together and bought one. What’s more, I’ll be getting Batman: Arkham Knight free in a deal from Amazon. It won’t be released for another month.
But it’s also been quite sad. My XBox 360 was my first console – bought as a “we got jobs!” present between myself and my ex-wife. I was a staunch PC gamer before but have come to truly love some amazing series on these advanced consoles. I have written about the stories behind the games here on this blog, some of the writing has been great. In particular, I fell in love with the stories to Assassin’s Creed, Bioshock, Red Dead Redemption and Batman Arkham (I will write about this last one later when I’ve finished playing the whole series). To a lesser extent Dead Space and some others.
In a way, it feels like the end of an era and it will be when Batman gets his final outing in the Arkham series, released next month. But I am also looking forward to what new series I will be introduced to and which gaming storylines will excite me for the next few years. I am looking forward to a new generation of Assassin’s Creed games, and whether Bioshock and Dead Space franchises will ever get a resurrection.
If anybody has any recommendations on the XB1 for games with great playability and fine storytelling, please do let me know.
Hope you had a good birthday and have fun with your new XBox One.
Thanks very much. I intend to🙂
