The Importance of a Good Blog Theme

It’s all moving a bit fast, isn’t it? The more blogs I read, the more I see how website aesthetics have changed with mobile internet and touch screen technology. The most noticeable change is the move toward touchscreen functionality which is no longer limited to mobile devices but now common on laptops too. So I’ve … Continue reading The Importance of a Good Blog Theme

Free Things to Do in Cornwall in Winter to Inspire Writers and Photographers

Our lovely little corner of the country attracts millions of visitors every year. Coastal resorts such as St Ives become choc-a-bloc with tourist from the spring through to early autumn. Land’s End and Sennen Cove and the striking coast of West Penwith are amazing and inspiring for creatives. If it isn’t the coast, there’s the … Continue reading Free Things to Do in Cornwall in Winter to Inspire Writers and Photographers

Photographing My Way Through January

I’ve set myself three goals for this year (I don’t really want to call them “resolutions”). The first I’ve already discussed, which is to continue to pursue options to get my novel Salmonweird published The second is to get better at promoting my business and products on social media. I’ve taken steps towards this already … Continue reading Photographing My Way Through January

None of Us Are Getting Any Younger, So Enjoy It

Perhaps a more poignant reflection for the end of 2018. It has been a difficult year in many ways, but by no means the worst I’ve ever experienced. I would say “bittersweet” with the start of 2019 looking like beginning with a bright future right now. January started as any other did – I had … Continue reading None of Us Are Getting Any Younger, So Enjoy It

Have You Read The Christmas Goblin Yet?

Last month, I released my new ebook – a short(ish) Christmas children’s story. During a regular bout of spring insomnia earlier this year, a flea I had in my ear for many years about two children in their room on Christmas Eve, on a planet far away. Back then, it was going to be a … Continue reading Have You Read The Christmas Goblin Yet?

RIP Yasmin Selena Butt

The internet is now so intricately linked in our lives that we can’t imagine life without it. I wouldn’t have a job if it wasn’t for the internet. I wouldn’t have connected with other writers (and readers). Love or hate Facebook, you can talk to people all over the world with a common interest. Without … Continue reading RIP Yasmin Selena Butt

How You Can Support Independent Sellers This Christmas

Over the last few years, there has been a movement in retail trends imploring consumers to have an #IndieChristmas – buying Christmas presents from places other than big business and to prioritise independent sellers. For many of us, the go-to place is Amazon. I’m not going to call for you to boycott them for any … Continue reading How You Can Support Independent Sellers This Christmas

The Clocks Going Back: Autumn and Winter Personal Challenges

Tonight, the clocks shift from BST to GMT as we had deeper into the autumn. Although spring is my favourite season, I love Autumn for the colours and the build up to Christmas. If also means nights in with the curtains drawn, a cup of hot chocolate in the hands and writing!

Aperture, ISO, Complex Pile of Tech… Light Settings, AF-P, Oh My God, By Eck!

Here is my new snazzy camera. I’ve not really ventured to use it yet although I did go out about a week ago to take some sunset shots. They didn’t come out so well, mostly because I’m finding the more complex issues of camera use slightly confusing. I never believed for one moment it would … Continue reading Aperture, ISO, Complex Pile of Tech… Light Settings, AF-P, Oh My God, By Eck!

Taking Up Photography – Maybe as a Side Business?

I have always had a keen eye for landscape and building photography but I’ve never considered myself a particularly good photographer. Sometimes I just seen an image and think “ooh that’s nice” pick up my camera (or in this case my smartphone) and snap away without any thought beyond creating a good header image.
